McDONOUGH — In less than one month the 2019-2020 school year will begin.

To help parents with questions and school supplies, Communities in Schools is hosting its eighth annual Parent Expo in the Jason T. Harper Event Center at Heritage Park from 9 a.m. to noon July 20.

CIS is a nonprofit in Henry County whose goal is to help “at risk” students graduate high school through academic, social and behavioral intervention services.

Representatives from the school district and county resources will be on hand to aid parents. Several nonprofit and faith-based organizations such as Southern Crescent Behavioral Health System and Blessed Hands Home Care will be part of the expo.

In addition to information, parents can pick up a backpack full of school supplies. Proof of residency is required.

CIS said they’re hoping to collect enough supplies to give away 1,200 bags.

For more information about the expo or to volunteer, email Crystal McCarthy at cmccarthyatcisgeorgia.org or call 404-897-2950.
