McDONOUGH— Henry County Manager Jim Walker announced his resignation earlier today, effective May 10, according to a Henry County press release.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve the citizens and the great employees of Henry County,” said Walker in his resignation letter. “I believe the time is right for me to step down as county manager and pursue other professional opportunities.”
Walker’s resignation comes at the heels of him being placed on paid leave April 28 following a called meeting and executive session. Commissioners were to receive the results of an investigation into Walker at Tuesday’s meeting, but no county officials have confirmed why Walker was being investigated.
Assistant County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews will serve as temporary county manager until commissioners decide on how to move forward.
