STOCKBRIDGE – District 4 of the Georgia Department of Public Health will hold a pop-up testing event on Friday for anyone who wants to be tested for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The free testing will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.P. Moseley Park, located at 1041 Millers Mill Road in Stockbridge.

Those looking to be tested do not have to have symptoms nor been in contact with a person who has previously tested positive for the virus. There is no appointment necessary, and pre-registration is available, but not required.

Henry County Transit will provide free transportation to and from the testing site for those who need it. Those interested in utilizing Henry County Transit should call 770-288-7444 to schedule a trip.

Earlier this month, the Henry County Board of Commissioners requested additional testing in the county, supported by the county’s four cities of Hampton, Locust Grove, McDonough and Stockbridge.

According to the DPH’s Monday statistics, there were 627 positive cases of the coronavirus in Henry County, a decrease of three from the day before, and 18 fatalities. There have been 38,283 cases in Georgia, with 1,649 fatalities as of Monday evening.

For more information on the free pop-up testing or to pre-register, visit covid19.dph.ga.gov.
