Henry County K-9 Ofc. Thorr dies after traffic accident

Henry County Police Department K-9 Ofc. Thorr, a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois, died after a traffic accident when the car that he and Officers T. Pilgrim and W. Neville were in collided with a tractor-trailer on I-75. The human officers were treated and released and the truck driver was flown to Grady for observation.

McDONOUGH —The Henry County Police Department said K-9 Officer Thorr has died following a traffic accident on I-75 Thursday night.

Acccording to HCPD, K-9 Thorr, Officer T. Pilgrim and Officer W. Neville “were conducting traffic enforcement on I-75 near (mile marker) 208 when their vehicle collided with a tractor trailer.”

Pilgrim and Neville were wearing their seat belts and were taken to Piedmont Henry Medical Center, treated and released. The truck driver was flown to Grady for evaluation but was “conscious and alert while at the scene.”

However, “K-9 Thorr was transported to the veterinarian, where he was examined and ultimately determined to have suffered significant injuries.” K-9 Thorr was a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who had served with HCPD for six months.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all parties involved,” said HCPD spokesman Capt. Randy Lee.
