McDONOUGH — Supplemental materials are ready for Henry County’s kindergarten through second-grade students.

Henry County Schools prepared the packets as a supplement to the activities and assignments already provided by teachers, district officials said. The printed resources are being provided to families who may not have access to technology at home.

Parents can pick up packets starting at food distribution sites from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. One packet per student for their grade level will be available.

For those with technology, parents can access the new materials with the Never Stop Learning resource link and select the Parent Resource tab on the district’s website at www.henry.k12.ga.us.

“We want to make sure that our students have multiple ways to receive these important learning materials to utilize as a part of our Remote Learning Plan,” said Kathleen Truitt, assistant superintendent for Instruction & Learning. “The supplemental materials available for pick-up at our distribution sites are already printed out and require no access to technology to complete. For those with technology and internet access at home, they can download the materials at their convenience.”

Those families stopping by one of the distribution sites will also receive a packet of crayons and pencils for each K-2 child, and any child in the vehicle can also receive lunch for the day and breakfast for the next day.

While passing out meals, Board of Education Chair Josh Hinton said he saw many smiling faces when asking students about their remote learning.

“We are glad to be able to share additional resources with them during this unique time for our school system,” Hinton said. “I applaud all of our employees for the work they are doing to meet the needs of our students and families. We have the absolute best employees and school community. No matter the task, everyone is rallying to support our schools.”

Parents can pick up meals and supplemental packets at the following locations:

♦ Hampton Middle School

♦ Locust Grove Elementary School

♦ McDonough Middle School

♦ Oakland Elementary School

♦ Stockbridge Middle School

♦ Wesley Lakes Elementary
