STOCKBRIDGE — A civil lawsuit has been filed against BBQ Masters restaurant owner Arick Whitson by Atlantic Speciality Insurance Company in an attempt recoup a $1 million overpayment by the company.

Whitson recently settled a lawsuit with the city of Stockbridge for $1.7 million. The agreement stated the insurance company, ASIC, would wire $1 million to Whitson’s bank account, $191,193 to Whitson and the restaurant, and the remaining $533,807 to his attorney, Greg Hecht of Hecht Walker P.C.
