STOCKBRIDGE – The Jimmie Lee Smith Community Center will hold its first Youth Financial Literacy Workshop starting this weekend.

The workshop targets students from the fourth through the eighth grades, and will teach youths about saving, budgeting, using credit wisely and investing.

Parents are encouraged to register their children at www.georgiaexcel.com/financialliteracy. The workshops are free to the public.

Classes will begin on Saturday, Sept. 21 and run through Saturday, Oct. 26. Classes will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 1 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

According to a release from the community center, the event is “an opportunity of a lifetime” for children, and space is limited.
