Some politicians rail against pork barrel spending every election year, but then seem to be perfectly comfortable with it when they're safely back in office.

If cap and trade is passed, we can expect a pork bonanza for back-room Washington politicians and the industries that know how to work them. The Waxman-Markey climate-change bill now being considered by Congress (the latest edition of cap and trade legislation on Capitol Hill) has already had caveats attached to it that give away billions of dollars in free emissions permits.
