Members of Prevent Child Abuse Henry accept a grant from Central Georgia EMC Foundation.

McDONOUGH — Prevent Child Abuse Henry County has received a $3,800 grant for education and resources.

Prevent Child Abuse Henry’s mission is to stop child abuse and neglect in Henry County. Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase 1,200 reading books for infants, 1,200 parent handbooks and education brochures addressing postpartum disorders.

The grant was awarded by the Central Georgia EMC Foundation, a customer-owned corporation which allows owners to participate in the Operation Round Up Program. The program gives customers the ability to voluntarily round up their electric bills to the next dollar. The monies are distributed to qualifying charities.

The Central Georgia EMC Foundation is accepting applications from charities in Henry, Clayton, Bibb, Butts, Fayette, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Pike, Putnam and Spalding counties. To apply, visit or visit their office at 923 S. Mulberry St. in Jackson.
