MCDONOUGH — Another movie is set to film at a Henry County Schools’ facility.
The Board of Education has approved Two Dollar Bill Pictures Inc. to use the football practice field at either Henry County Middle School or Patrick Henry Middle School.
The company is one of just many that has utilized school buildings over the last few years, according to JD Hardin, HCS spokesman.
“We’ve had several shows and movies like ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘MacGyver,’ ‘Legacies,’ ‘Sweet Magnolias’ and ‘POMS’ filmed here,” he said.
He said interest continues to grow both in the area and school facilities, which brings both building upgrades and revenue.
Hardin said many of the production companies are leaving the facilities better than they found them.
“They’ve done things like pave parking lots, interior painting and other repairs,” he said.
Annually, the district is collecting approximately $160,000-$175,000 in revenue, which goes into the general fund.
Hardin added that though production companies have taken a liking to the area, student learning remains top priority.
“Instructional time is never interrupted,” he said. “Any filming they do is done outside educational hours.”
