WASHINGTON—U.S. Congressman David Scott (GA-13) announced Thursday that he has secured $1,268,819 in federal grant money for the Henry County Fire Department.

Under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, Scott said, HCFD will get funding for new, enhanced ambulatory patient lift systems.

"Local fire departments play a vital role in keeping our communities safe," Scott said, adding that he is "proud" to have helped secure the funds for HCFD.

"As a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I am well aware of the critical need to increase and maintain the number of trained, front-line firefighters. And I will continue working to support and deliver federal funding for the fire departments across Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District.”

Scott also wrangled $2,242,500 for the City of South Fulton to hire 21 additional firefighters.
