SCHOOL NOTEBOOK: Locals earn Gordon Faculty Choice Awards

Special Photo: Dutchtown High School footbal players, cheerleaders and a band member sang Christmas carols for the independent and assisted living seniors at Benton Village in Stockbridge, on Dec. 3. The cheerleaders included: Madison Hawkins, Dasha Kovalska, Ariel Miller, and Ariana Ford; the football players included: Jamal Watkins and Darian Smalls; and the band member was Matt Sanders. Special Photo: The Blue Road Runners Lego League team at Rock Spring Elementary School in McDonough went to the Dublin FIRST regional qualifiers on Dec. 3, and competed in the FIRST's Food Factor Challenge. The team won first place for Mechanical Robot Design, and fourth place overall, earning them a spot at the Super Regionals at Warner Robbins in January. 

The Business and Social Science faculty at Gordon College recently recognized two students for their academic excellence and dedication to their education.

Jennifer Holcomb was awarded the Faculty Choice Award, while Emmitt Pharr, was recognized as the runner-up for the award. Both are from Henry County. The award program began in 2009 to recognize outstanding students nominated by the business and social science faculty.
