‘Smart meters’ system in near future for Hampton

HAMPTON — The city is preparing to bring on a software system they say will effectively run and monitor the city’s power and meter system.

Advanced Metering Infrastructures, or “smart meters,” will soon be used for Hampton’s water and power systems, with the water system being monitored by the county. During the Tuesday evening meeting, council discussed a plan to contract with Central Georgia EMC for the monitoring of the power system.
