McDONOUGH — Two suspects in a Griffin armed robbery that led law enforcement agencies from multiple counties, including Clayton and Henry, on a high-speed chase Aug. 16 have been identified. Police say two others remain at large.

Adrain Santoi Sterling, 32, of College Park and James Leon Daniel, 49, of Atlanta are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Griffin Police responded to an armed robbery call around 1:55 p.m. Friday at Regions Bank, 327 W. Taylor, where a Brinks armored car agent had been reloading cash into the ATM. The agent and witnesses said a white Lincoln Town Car had pulled up, suspects pointed weapons at the agent and took a money tray from the ATM. “It occurred at the branch, but it happened at the ATM,” said corporate spokesperson Nicole Wyatt. “Nobody was injured.”

When the suspects fled, the car struck a pole, doing “extensive damage to the rear door.” Police say the Town Car followed a dark Dodge Charger to the intersection of S. Ninth and W. Wall, where the three suspects bailed out and jumped into the Charger, which took off.

Spalding County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the Charger on Arthur K. Bolton Parkway and the chase was on. The Charger sped west on Ga. Highway 16, then jumped onto I-75 northbound towards Henry County.

Sterling and Daniel were captured near exit 218 around 2:45 p.m. and are being held without bond in Spalding County. Two other suspects remain at large.

Agencies involved included the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, McDonough Police Department, Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Butts County Sheriff’s Office, Griffin Police and Georgia State Patrol.
