Teen charged in Locust Grove High drug incident

LOCUST GROVE — A student who allegedly supplied drugs to several other girls in the restroom at Locust Grove High School faces several charges.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the female student was arrested and charged as a juvenile with possession of GHB, possession with intent to distribute GHB, reckless conduct and disruption of a public school.

The Henry County District Attorney’s Office says the student was later released.

No further information about the suspect was available, as the suspect is a juvenile.

GHB, a party drug, is also known as the “date rape drug.” According to Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, “GHB (Gamma hydroxybutyrate) is predominantly a central nervous system depressant. GHB is often manufactured in homes with recipes and kits found and purchased on the Internet. GHB is made from a combination of gamma butyrolactone (GBL) and sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. These substances are more commonly used as floor stripping solvents and drain cleaners.”

According to Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, GHB is has a salty taste and is often diluted in liquids where it is virtually undetectable.
