McDONOUGH — Union Grove High and Middle Schools as well as East Lake Elementary were on a soft lockdown Friday morning.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office indicated the lockdown was in place due to “police activity in the area.” The sheriff’s office announced at 9:23 a.m. the lockdown had been lifted.

Henry County Schools spokesman JD Hardin said the schools were on lockdown as a “precaution.”

During a soft lockdown, students and school staff are allowed to move about the building, but no one can enter or exit the school building.

The Union Grove cluster is located on Lake Road in McDonough.
