Mrs. Elwyn Ward, 96, of McDonough, passed away July 1, 2011. She was born in Duluth, Ga., to the late Donald and Elizabeth Hoyt Wilson. She was preceded in death by brothers, Don, Tom, and Sam Wilson, and by a sister, Virginia Wilson Russell. She graduated from Georgia Southern University, at Statesboro, and worked for former U.S. Sen. Richard B. Russell, in Washington D.C., from 1939 to 1940. She met John Frank Ward in Winder, Ga., and they were married October 14, 1940. John Frank preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2010. She was a member of McDonough Presbyterian Church and was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include children, Elizabeth Ward Pearce and Jeff Ward; grandchildren, Noel (Kelly) Love, Margaret (Wally) Cawthon, Merritt Ramsaur and Kelley Qualls; great grandchildren, Kaitlin and Mitchell Love and Aynsley Ramsaur; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 3, at 3 p.m., from the McDonough Presbyterian Church. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in McDonough City Cemetery. Contributions are asked to be made to McDonough Presbyterian Church, or Praying for Paws McDonough, in memory of Mrs. Ward.
