McDONOUGH— A proposal for an outdoor, walkable shopping mall was given the nod by Henry County’s planning and zoning board Thursday evening for land east of Interstate 75 off of Jonesboro Road.

Richard Bell, of ReVest investment and advisory firm, appeared before the planning board on behalf of applicant Henry Promenade LLC, seeking to rezone 88 acres of the land. The board recommended approval of rezoning the land from residential agricultural(RA) and light manufacturing(M1) to highway commercial (C3). Should the Henry County Board of Commissioners approve the rezoning, the tract would be zoned the same as the other 30-plus acres that would be part of the 122 acre-development.
