Alvin Eugene "AL" Denmon
Alvin "Al" Eugene Denmon, age 86 of Morrow, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30th, 2019. He was born to the late Lula Mae and Eugene Denmon on March 30, 1933. Al married Joyce Denmon (Ginn) on July 10, 1954. They were married for 62 years.
Surviving are two daughters Peggy (Jimmy) Lacey, of Rex, and Joy (Kevin) Kearns, of Statesboro, son-in-law Bobby Lacey; siblings Donnie (Linda) Denmon, Ruth Johnston; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Joyce and his beloved daughter, Lindy; as well as his parents and his brother, Jimmy.
Al served as an enlisted member of the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and after his enlistment, he continued his service as a civilian member of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as an electrician. In addition to his military service, he also served as a Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and The Rock Baptist Church.
In his spare time, Al enjoyed going to Lake Juliette and Lake Allatoona for bass fishing with his friends and coming home to prepare the fish and his famous hushpuppies for family fish fries. He also took pleasure in spending time outside with his dogs while tending to his backyard garden, and relaxing at home while reading Lewis Grizzard and John Grisham novels.
A celebration of life will be held at the Fellowship Hall at Stockbridge Methodist Church on July 13th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Our Vision Continues" or "The Good Shepherd Clinic" at First Baptist Church of Morrow.
