McDonough, GA Mr. John Thomas "J.T." Harris, Jr., age 66 of McDonough, Georgia passed away January 29, 2021. He was born in Griffin, Georgia to the late John Thomas Harris, Sr. and Janice Williamson Harris. He graduated from Riverside Military Academy in May of 1972. John faithfully served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, the University of West Georgia and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in March of 1986. He retired after 20 years with Atlanta Gas Light Company and was the proprietor of a couple of home improvement and inspection businesses before his most recent employment in McDonough at All About Gas. He was an avid gunman who participated and excelled in State Trap Shoots throughout the Southeast during the past fifteen years. He had a love and passion for the sport and the friends he made along the way. Along with his cherished sister, he maintained a family farm full of his beloved animals. Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Erica and John Bryniarski of Venice, FL; sister, Susan Harris of McDonough, GA; and an extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Family Support, the University of Georgia College of Veterinary School of Medicine's Sundown Surgery Fund, or to a charity of one's choice in memory of John. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 - 11:00 AM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Jenkinsburg City Cemetery with military honors.
