McDONOUGH — Another week of basketball is on tap as numerous teams continue to look for an improvement in the region standings. Meanwhile, Dutchtown and Eagle’s Landing primed for another tilt in the not too distant future.
Dutchtown Bulldogs (17-3, 9-1)
Dutchtown may have suffered their first region loss last week in overtime action against Eagle’s Landing High last week but the program closed out the week with wins over Ola and Locust Grove. This week, Woodland, Stockbridge and Eagle’s Landing are on tap for the Bulldogs.
Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy Chargers (6-7, 1-0)
The Chargers have been silent in 2020, partly due to the team not having a game last week. ELCA starts this week with two road games against Drew Charter School Senior Academy and Our Lady of Mercy before hosting Greater Atlanta Christian.
Eagle’s Landing Golden Eagles (16-1, 8-0)
The Golden Eagles marched to the top of the region standings last week with an overtime win over Dutchtown but the program looked to take a step back against Locust Grove and Woodland to close out the week. This week features another three game slate that begins with Union Grove at home before hitting the road against Jones County and Dutchtown.
Hampton Hornets (3-16, 0-8)
This week finds Hampton on a 14 game losing streak following losses to Druid Hills and Luella High. The region slate continues this week as the Hornets host Eastside before traveling to face Salem.
Locust Grove Wildcats (10-9, 1-8)
Locust Grove almost upset Eagle’s Landing last week in the 58-48 loss but it wasn’t to be as the Wildcats also dropped their second game of the week to Dutchtown. However, this week features a rivalry renewed on the road to Ola High before facing Tattnall Square Academy.
Luella Lions (7-12, 2-7)
The Lions played three games and found a win sandwiched between two losses. This week, Luella faces Druid Hills.
McDonough Warhawks (10-8, 5-4)
Last week was tough for the Warhawks. Not only did the program lose to Salem High School, they also lost in overtime on a walk-off three pointer to North Clayton High School. McDonough got back on track with a win over Druid Hills. This week, the Warhawks face off against Woodward Academy, Luella and Newton.
Ola Mustangs (1-16, 0-9)
The Mustangs are on a 14 game losing streak entering this week. They’ll face Stockbridge before taking on Locust Grove.
Strong Rock Christian Academy Patriots (1-16, 1-3)
Strong Rock fell to both Drew Charter School Senior Academy and Our Lady of Mercy last week but the Patriots finished out the week with a win over Atlanta International.
This week, the Patriots face Elite Scholars Academy, Trinity Christian and Our Lady of Mercy all on the road.
Stockbridge Tigers (6-12, 3-5)
Stockbridge may have started the week with a loss to South Atlanta, but the Tigers finished strong with a narrow 50-48 victory over Union Grove, much like last year. This week, the Tigers will square off against Ola and Dutchtown with the game against the Bulldogs, reigniting a rivalry long dormant.
Union Grove Wolverines (9-9, 4-5)
Union Grove looked like 2019 last week. A win over Jones County set them ahead but then a loss to Stockbridge put the program right back in their previous position. This week, the Wolverines will travel to Eagle’s Landing and Woodland.
Woodland Wolfpack (8-9, 5-2)
The Wolfpack nearly took Eagle’s Landing down last week but it didn’t happen. Instead, this week the Wolfpack will travel to face Dutchtown before hosting Union Grove this week.
