HAMPTON — This past Wednesday, the entire West campus of Creekside Christian Academy saw senior Danielle D’Alesio sign to run track at Carson-Newman University in Tennessee.

D’Alesio signed her Letter of Intent with friends, coaches and the student body watching.

This is the first time in Creekside history that we will have a girl go to college for track,” Creekside head track coach Fernando Bryant said.

Among her signing, D’Alesio becomes on the third female athlete from Creekside to receive an athletic scholarship according to sources. D’Alesio was a three-time Georgia Independent Christian Athletics Association state finalist and specialized in the 100-, 200-, 400 and 300-meter hurdles.

“I just want to thank all of my coaches, my Georgia Quarter Horses AAU coaches — everybody,” D’Alesio said while addressing her fellow students. “Cause they have pushed me to the point where I’m dead on the ground but it was all worth it”.
