Eagle’s Landing Christian grad Alex Usry was named to the preseason All-Big South Conference first team at kicker.

The selection wasn’t a surprise because the Charleston Southern junior is the reigning Big South Special Teams Player of the Year.

Usry was a four-time conference Special Teams Player of the Week recipient in 2019 and set the CSU record for most field goals in a single season and longest field goal in program history (52 at North Alabama), while adding 82 total points on the year. He was second in FCS in field goals per game (1.90), and made 3 of 4 field goals from over 50 yards. His 20 field goals tied for the most in Big South history.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder had a decorated high school career at ELCA, making 17 of 24 fied goals his final two seasons. He was 83-for-83 on PATs as a senior and scored 107 points.
