GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Ola High notches two victories while region slates resume in 2019

McDONOUGH — With 2018 in the rearview — a number of programs took some parting shots at the 2018 calendar with Ola leading the way with two victories.

Dutchtown Lady Bulldogs (2-11, 2-4)

The Lady Bulldogs’ trip to Florida yielded three more losses to bring the losing skid to six straight games. Region play resumes this week with Dutchtown traveling to Jones County High.

Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy Lady Chargers (9-3, 0-0)

ELCA ended 2018 on a high note with three straight victories over First Presbyterian Day, Union Grove and Chattanooga Christian. The Lady Chargers kick off 2019 with a region game against Strong Rock Christian.

Eagle’s Landing Lady Golden Eagles (10-3, 6-0)

Eagle’s Landing was also down in Florida but didn’t get off to a good start with a loss to West Orange. The Lady Golden Eagles won their final two games of the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational and take that momentum into the region game against Stockbridge High this week.

Hampton Lady Hornets (3-10, 0-6)

The Lady Hornets have been out of action since Dec. 15 but Hampton opens 2019 with a non-region game against Whitewater High.

Henry County Lady Warhawks (16-2, 7-0)

Henry County won against every team they faced in the Chuck Miller Classic but unlike most of the county, the Lady Warhawks are out of action until Jan. 8.

Locust Grove Lady Wildcats (11-4, 3-3)

The Lady Wildcats won a tournament for their first ever trophy and while they’ve picked up some hardware the region slate also picks back up with Union Grove on the docket.

Luella Lady Lions (11-3, 6-1)

Luella came up a little short in the Morgan County High Christmas Tournament but the Lady Lions return to action this week with two non-region home games against Stockbridge and Riverdale.

Ola Lady Mustangs (2-11, 0-6)

The Lady Mustangs were searching for another pair of victories and the program found them. WIth victories over Trinity Christian and Eastside, Ola tied its most wins in a season total for 2013-14 and 2007-08. This week, Ola travels to Woodland High to resume the region slate.

Strong Rock Christian Academy Lady Patriots (9-4, 1-0)

The Lady Patriots are entering 2019 with a 1-1 tournament record but Strong Rock is on a collision course for a game with Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy this week.

Stockbridge Lady Tigers (3-10, 1-5)

Stockbridge had a long break as the team didn’t take part in a Christmas tournament but there are two games this week for Stockbridge. The Lady Tigers face Luella and Eagle’s Landing both on the road.

Union Grove Lady Wolverines (9-7, 3-3)

Union Grove dropped three straight games in the Tattnall Square Holiday Tournament but region play resumes this week with Locust Grove visiting the Lady Wolverines.

Woodland Lady Wolfpack (7-5, 4-2)

Woodland won their Greenberg and Price Christmas tournament last week but this week, region play resumes with Ola visiting the Lady Wolfpack. Woodland also gets a visit from Redan High Saturday.
