Union Grove Basketball hosts Hampton (8).jpg (copy)

Union Grove and Hampton are both on the rankings board in new places.

McDONOUGH - The girls basketball season is well underway in Henry County but there hasn't been a team that's truly dominated this early in the season.

Luella High School has been a favorite coming in due to their returning firepower and the Lady Lions sit at the top of the rankings this week. But a team that's surged of late has been the Dutchtown Lady Bulldogs who hang out as the No. 7 team.

A team that did tumble down the rankings based on performance this season has been Locust Grove. The Lady Wildcats hang around the middle of the pack which isn't where they were figured to be with the returns of Jasmine Wills and Tolisha Walker.

Another surprise near the bottom of the rankings happens to be the Woodland Lady Wolfpack who are hanging in No. 11. Woodland is averaging just 37 points per game to this point of the season but considering how head coach Roy Johnson works, they'll be a charger late in the season.
