Locust Grove avoided the errors that nearly cost them in game one to pick up the series sweep of South Effingham.

LOCUST GROVE - To complete the series, Locust Grove had to rely on Brooke McCubbin in the circle and some timely hitting to complete the series sweep over South Effingham and punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 round of the state playoffs.

What was an offensively slow start for the Lady Wildcats in game one was not the case in game two for the Lady Wildcats.

Locust Grove took home a 7-0 game two victory over the Lady Mustangs.

Offense came for the Lady Wildcats in every inning except the third but the Lady Wildcats' 3-0 lead entering the fourth inning was only doubled when McCubbin helped her own cause with a grand slam homerun.

Outside of that, the game had less worry than the first. Locust Grove's offensive output and defense closed the door multiple times throughout the night.

Even after a lightning delay, the Lady Wildcats came back out with a fresh Layla Barron to help close the game out in the final two innings and complete the sweep.

Locust Grove will play the winner of the Loganville/North Springs game next Tuesday.
