NEWNAN — Locust Grove’s Justin Reynolds was stopped at the 1-yard line on a two-point conversion attempt in double overtime Friday night, and the Wildcats fell painfully short in a 41-40 loss at Northgate.

Locust Grove had 413 yards of offense, led by running back Kavion George’s 188 yards on 18 carries. Frank Cure had a pair of touchdown runs, and Reynolds was 9 of 21 passing for 185 yards and TDs of 49, 57 and 43 yards.

Tykell Stewart had two catches for 47 yards (43 on a TD), Jay Philpot had four catches for 68 yards (49 on a TD) and Tye Mims had a 57-yard TD grab.

Northgate led 17-13 at halftime and the teams were tied at 27 after regulation.
