After an offensive outburst against Oakwood last week, redshirt freshman Mariah Holder was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday according to the University West Georgia.
Holder, a Dutchtown alumnae scored a career-high 22 points in a 99-65 West Georgia win over Oakwood last Tuesday. Holder was 8-of-14 from the field that night, including five three-pointers, helping the Wolves hit a school record 17 three-pointers.
Also in the game, Holder posted career-highs in rebounds with five and blocks with two while grabbing one steal and dishing out an assist.
Holder is the first player since Terrianna Cave to be named the GSC’s Freshman of the Week. Cave earned the honor twice as a freshman in 2015-16. Holder is the second UWG player this season to win a GSC Weekly Award as Ashley Lee was the league’s Player of the Week last week.
