McDonough’s Andrew Martin and Luella’s James Jones earned two of the top awards on the All-Region 5-AAAA Football Team, voted on by the league’s coaches.

Martin was named the region’s Defensive Player of the Year, and Jones was Special Teams Player of the Year.

Luella had six first-team selections — wide receiver Antonio Johnson, offensive lineman Isaiah Mitchell, kicker Garrison Rippa, defensive lineman Detrique Lawrence, linebacker Isaiah Brown and defensive back Marquise Strickland.

McDonough’s first-teamers were offensive lineman TyKorian Martin, and linebacker Terry Lemon, and Hampton’s first-team picks were wide receiver Dario Fairnot and defensive back Sincere Keith.

Luella put five more players on the second team — quarterback Destin Ingram, wide receiver J’Marius Johnson, offensive lineman Ronald Chestnut, defensive lineman Ryan Smith and defensive back Xavier Green.

Hampton’s Cameron Coggins (wide receiver), Jayden Lang (defensive line), Chukwuka Nwaokolo (linebacker) and Untavais Varner (defensive back) made the second team, as did McDonough’s Nautica Martin (running back), Esa Short (wide receiver), Elijah Barber (defensive line) and Tylique Goodrum (defensive back).

The honorable mention selections included Hampton’s Sevastian Cruz, Kaleb Holsey, Kaleb Whitsett, Derrick Jones, Brandon Bogle, Hunter Hensley, Paris Rivers and Justyn Reid, Luella’s Markelo Green, Jaylen Lester, Davaris Taylor, Christian Miles and Donovan Bradley and McDonough’s Isaiah Massay, Richard Baugh III, Trevon Pittman, Chris Irons, Kemari Moody and Noah Irby.
