McDONOUGH - With the most anticipated game of the week occurring Friday night at Eagle's Landing, a power outage occurred as a storm moved through the McDonough area.

Power first went out at Eagle's Landing High School around 7:14 p.m. and the high school gymnasium was evacuated 30 minutes later during the junior varsity game. The games affected were the junior varsity boys basketball game and both girls and boys varsity games.

The Eagle's Landing arena was 100 visitors short of max capacity and had no impact on the power outage. Emergency lights did trigger temporarily but went back out during the outage.

According to the Georgia Power Outage map, the Eagle's Landing area near Flippen was one of 23 locations affected with an outage at the time. Basketball action was halted promptly and postponed as both administrations for Eagle's Landing and Dutchtown executed crisis prevention and intervention measures.

A makeup date has not been announced for the continuation of the junior varsity game's continuation nor the date for the varsity games. Power returned to Eagle's Landing at 7:54 p.m. as the emergency lights returned to power.
