McDONOUGH — The early season action around Henry County entering this week was going to be interesting, but following the loss Locust Grove received at the hands of Hampton, things changed suddenly.
Dutchtown High School (1-4, 0-4)
Dutchtown only had two teams to face last week as the Lady Bulldogs were able to notch their first win of the season. The victory came over Luella High but they fell 24 hours later to Eagle’s Landing. This week, Dutchtown faces Stockbridge and Locust Grove.
Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (7-1, 2-0)
The ELCA Lady Chargers picked up three victories last week with wins over Spalding, Arabia Mountain and Holy Innocents’ Episcopal but this week’s opponents will be Jackson and Wesleyan on the road in back-to-back games.
Eagle’s Landing High School (1-6, 1-3)
The Lady Eagles have just one win to their credit entering this week after the program scored a victory over Dutchtown High. This week, Eagle’s Landing have four games starting with Union Grove and Ola with the weekend double-header at Sandy Creek High.
Hampton High School (7-5, 2-0)
Hampton’s region counter continued last week with a victory over Luella. The Lady Hornets fell to Starr’s Mill and East Coweta over the weekend but will get a good rest following a 2-1 victory over Locust Grove earlier this week.
Locust Grove High School (11-1, 4-0)
The Lady Wildcats continue to be a dominating force around Henry County as they’ve picked up 11 wins this season. Locust Grove remained undefeated in region play after topping Stockbridge and Union Grove last week but hit a roadblock following Monday’s loss to Hampton High. Woodland is next this week for the Lady Wildcats, who finish the week against Dutchtown.
Luella High School (2-4, 1-1)
Luella had a rough go last week, first with a road loss to Dutchtown and then a 9-1 loss to Hampton left the program with some work to do. This week, Luella will have two home games following the 17-0 blowout to Union Grove on Monday. Griffin and Eastside High School are next for Luella.
Ola High School (3-2, 2-2)
Ola High took home the first victory of the season over Woodland High, but that was the only game the program played last week. This week will test the Lady Mustangs as they’ll travel to Jones County before hosting Houston County. The week ends with a region game against Eagle’s Landing, meaning the Lady Mustangs will have played three games in three days.
Strong Rock Christian School (7-4, 1-1)
The Lady Patriots’ five game week resulted in three wins with the most important coming against Galloway. Strong Rock won’t slow down this week with three games over four days, but they’ll face good competition in Pike County, Jackson and Mount Vernon Presbyterian.
Stockbridge High School (0-4, 0-4)
Stockbridge High lost two games last week but has three games on the road against Miller Grove, Dutchtown and Jones County High.
Union Grove High (6-3, 4-1)
Union Grove’s region record has one loss to it following a loss to Locust Grove. The Locust Grove loss wasn’t the only one as the Lady Wolverines dropped a game to Colquitt County and South Paulding over the weekend. This week, Union Grove will play three games over four days. The Lady Wolverines won over Luella on Monday but still have to face Eagle’s Landing and Woodland.
Woodland High School (5-4, 3-2)
Woodland dropped a game last week to Ola but the rebounding victory over Stockbridge was a good consolation prize. This week, just two games against the top two teams in the region are next as they’ll face Locust Grove at home and travel to face Union Grove late in the week.
