Union Grove grad Wesley Simpson’s game-winning shot in the waning seconds Wednesday night capped a huge comeback for Georgia College’s men’s basketball team.

Down by as much as 19 points in the second half, the Bobcats rallied for a 76-74 win at the University of North Georgia.

Tied 74-74 with just under 15 seconds left in the game, the in-bounds went to senior Jordan Thomas, who made his move around the eight-second mark. It was then that he found Simpson on the left post, and after a drop step and fake, Simpson knocked down a go-ahead layup with 2.9 ticks remaining. The ensuing in-bounds was swiped by senior Kohl Roberts and the big man held on for the win.

Simpson finished with nine points.
