Caroline Wozniacki fell 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 to Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in the third round of the Australian Open on Friday, officially ending the former World No. 1's professional career.

The 29-year-old Dane announced in December that the Open would be her last professional tournament. She began the tournament ranked No. 36 in the world. She is also enrolled in the Harvard School of Business.

Following the match, an emotional Wozniacki addressed the crowd while on the court and talked about the moment, joking "I think it's only fitting that my career finished with a three-setter, a grinder, and that my career would finish on a forehand error. Those are the things I've been working on my whole career."

Wozniacki was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis two years ago but said in December her decision has "nothing to do with my health and this isn't a goodbye."

Wozniacki said she plans to start a family with her former NBA player husband David Lee.

"I've played professionally since I was 15 years old and in that time I've experienced an amazing first chapter of my life," she said. "I've accomplished everything I could ever dream of on the court.

"Getting married to David was one of those goals and starting a family with him while continuing to travel the world and helping raise awareness about rheumatoid arthritis are all passions of mine moving forward."

Wozniacki finished her career with 30 singles titles and one Grand Slam -- the 2018 Australian Open. She won more than $35 million in her career.
