McDONOUGH — Love and patriotic pride swelled from the hearts and home of the Torres-Toro and Stephens family last week.

Family and friends gathered Friday in McDonough to hold a private ceremony honoring the family’s patriarch, Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Warren Torres-Toro, who earned the Congressional Gold Medal. The award was bestowed on Torres-Toro’s unit, the 65th Infantry Regiment “Borinqueneers” in April for their valor, determination and bravery displayed during the Korean War.
