The UGA Extension Henry County Office frequently received the following question: "Why is my tree dying?" Many issues can arise, causing them to suffer and decline. The cause is not always apparent. You must be a detective when diagnosing trees in distress; consulting with professional arborists may be necessary.

Oak, hickory, dogwoods, and other trees have been losing leaves, browning at the edges of their leaves, or dying suddenly. The reason would probably become apparent if we could look at the roots.
