BBB advises consumers of new restrictions on telemarketers

JONESBORO — The days of incessant calls allegedly from the IRS, U.S. Department of Treasury or a random company claiming you have a long-standing debt easily remedied via a payment of a wire transfer may soon be coming to an end, according to the Better Business Bureau.

The Federal Trade Commission recently passed restrictions on forms of payment telemarketers can demand, unwanted robocalls, and protections under the National Do Not Call Registry.
