McDONOUGH — The Board of Commissioners’ failure to appoint a commissioner to fill the vacant District 3 seat has spurred new legislation in the Senate that will make board involvement in the appointment unnecessary.

On Thursday, Sen. Emanuel Jones introduced Senate Bill 306 that requires the BOC chair to “immediately appoint a qualified person from the list of nominations” to fill the vacancy if the board fails to do so.
