County staff to draft final changes to FY 2017 budget

McDONOUGH— Putting together Henry County’s fiscal year 2017 budget has seen a lot of back in forth as county officials work to balance the needs of county departments with anticipated revenue.

In a series of four public workshops, during which some department heads and county commissioners attended, one area that has been highlighted is that employee pay compression has been an issue that needs to be resolved and several department heads addressed the need to increase the salaries of certain employees. The workshops were held over the course of two weeks after County Manager Lyndon Bonner presented a preliminary budget earlier this month.
