Henry County Performing Arts Center in McDonough.

McDONOUGH — The Henry County Performing Arts Center in McDonough is set to get a facelift.

The renovation will be the second major overhaul to the facility built in 1998. An addition was completed in 2009.

The Board of Education awarded the contract to SRS of Griffin. The total cost is expected to be $2.1 million using special purpose local option sales tax monies.

Work will include replacement of parking lot asphalt, new coated foam roofing, new floor finishes, repainting, new ceiling tile, replacement of audience seating and signage. Additionally, the facility will get a new HVAC system, plumbing improvements and lighting upgrades to the interior and exterior.

The upgrades to the existing facility will complement the new Henry County Schools Performing Arts Center — Fairview in Stockbridge.

The new $17.1 million facility sits on 19 acres adjacent to Fairview Elementary School. It will seat 1,000 guests and offer up-to-date equipment and balcony seating.
