Almost 100 golfers hit the greens in support of the new Hard Hat Golf Tournament. The fund-raiser was a collaboration between Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity and H Magazine. Organizers estimate they raised nearly $20,000.
Outreach was a specific goal of the tournament, said Kara Welch, Chief Development Officer of the Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity. We wanted to raise awareness about the work that we do in the area. ... We have existing donors, but it was really important to obtain new businesses, and [the] H Magazine advertising team was able to reach out to their advertisers. Organizers of the tournament said they are absolutely going to make the fund-raiser an annual event.
