I have told you readers before that I absolutely love being a sports writer, watching these high school and college athletes perform on a regular basis. To me, the good thing about doing sports journalism is I get to get out of the office and see sporting events, eat some free food (if it's provided) and interact with other sports fans, coaches and the players. Not that there's anything wrong with sitting at a desk all day working, but I would rather be outdoors at events.
What intrigues me is that some newspaper sports writers get fed up and burned out with this job. Sure, it's no fun working at night when all the beautiful women are out at the hot spots. The pay for us isn't great at all. It's also not fun to have to work on Sundays, but no one said life would be perfect. To me, the perks outweigh the negatives in this job.
