“This facility is going to be huge for the county,” Henry County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews said.

HAMPTON — In what has been described as a “state-of-the-art” facility, Henry County Board of Commissioners members and county staff broke ground on the new North Mt. Carmel Recreation Center Thursday.
The new, multi-generational recreation center at 307 North Mt. Carmel Road, Hampton, will be nearly 37,000 square feet and will feature two full-sized basketball courts, locker rooms, a lobby area, a concession area, a community meeting room, three multi-purpose rooms, and an office space with a conference room and break room — and that’s just the first floor.
