Henry County Police Department purchases drones to assist with search and rescue missions

McDONOUGH — Imagine that it’s late – past dark. The temperature is falling and so is a light rain. A caregiver goes to check on her elderly parent who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. But instead of finding her loved one settled in for the night, she finds an empty room with a back door left open.

Panicked, the caregiver calls 911 and police arrive. They immediately begin searching the area, picking through woods and thickets, listening for any sound to lead them in the right direction, battling wet ground and little light. Several hours later, the lost person is found, cold and wet and in need of medical attention.
