Henry County Recognizes 50th Anniversary Of CDBG Program

The Henry County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation at its Tuesday, Aug 6 meeting to recognize the 50th anniversary of the Community Development Block Grant program. Over the past 50 years, the CDBG program has been a resource for local governments by providing additional resources for infrastructure improvements, safe and affordable housing and enhanced public services. Henry County has been a qualifying urban county since 2010 when it exceeded the population threshold of 200,000 residents and accepted its first allocation in 2012. “Through partnerships with the cities of Hampton, Locust Grove, McDonough, Stockbridge and non-profit agencies, the CDBG program has contributed to the improvement of living conditions in countless communities across Henry County, enhancing the quality of life for residents and promotions sustainable development,” the proclamation read in part.
