Henry teacher of the year to be named Thursday

McDONOUGH — Henry County Schools will be celebrating the best of its teachers and staff during the Harvest of Heroes celebration 7 p.m. Thursday at the Henry County Performing Arts Center.

The annual event will name the school system’s 2016-17 Teacher of the Year. The six semifinalists were named in September when Superintendent Rodney Bowler made surprise visits to their classrooms. The teachers are Laura Bone, Rock Spring Elementary; Dana Flowers, Timber Ridge Elementary; David Crumbley, Ola Middle School; Lynett Falkner, Locust Grove Middle; Melinda Bates, Ola High School; and Chansi Coleman, Eagle’s Landing High School.
