ATLANTA — Kroger and the American Heart Association announced Thursday that the grocery store chain’s Georgia locations will join the fight against heart disease in February.

From Feb. 1 until Feb. 14, customers at all Kroger locations in the state will be invited to purchase a paper “red heart” for $1 at checkout. The effort is in honor of the fact that February is American Heart Month.
