Locust Grove adopts stricter anti-smoking policy for employees

LOCUST GROVE — City officials voted Monday to implement a more strict anti-smoking policy for city employees in an effort to promote a safer and more productive workforce. The city also hopes to reduce health insurance costs, which is often higher for smokers.

The new policy now includes vapor products and e-cigarettes as part of the anti-tobacco use policy. In addition to smoking being prohibited in all city-owned buildings, the new policy prohibits tobacco and vapor use in city-owned vehicles, parks and other facilities.
