Luella plans to muscle way into contender

Photo by Brian Paglia Luella coach Nic Vasilchek said the team has set its goals on making the Class AAAAA playoffs this season. Last season, Vasilchek's first, the Lions were 3-7 overall.

A year stronger, a year more experienced under Nic Vasilchek's system, Luella figures to be a year better this season. But the Lions are shooting for more than that.

They want to be light years better. And in Region 2-AAAAA -- which Vasilchek considers the state's toughest, stocked with perennial contenders Stephenson, Newnan, M.L. King and East Coweta -- trying to find elbow room among the top four is a daunting proposition.
