Charles David Martin, of Jenkinsburg, died Friday, June 10, 2011. He was born March 8, 1943 in Douglas County. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a retired truck driver from Teamsters, and currently worked for the Butts County school system. He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Martin and Geneva Sosebee Martin; sister, Alta Mae Martin; and infant son, Kenneth D. Martin. He is survived by his wife, LaNae Whitaker Martin; children, Carla Martin, Dwayne Martin (Cindy), Stephen Martin (Tonya), Elayne Yeager (Jerry), Jason Martin (Stephanie), Cassie Causey (Chris); stepsons, Josh Thompson (Tassie), Jeremy Thompson; brother, Junior Martin (Margaret); sisters, Martha Croy (James), Pauline Thrasher (Clifford), Roberta Satterfield; brother-in-law, Frank Satterfield, Sybil Bell (David); 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The family received friends at the Sherrell Funeral Home in Jackson Sunday, June 12, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held Monday, June 13 at 4 p.m., at the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwayne Martin and the Rev. John Sherrell officiating. Interment was at Jackson City Cemetery. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrellfh.com.
