McDonough - The McDonough City Council has voted to join Stockbridge in attempting to obtain a Community Development Block Grant, provided through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The opportunity was presented to both cities following a recent vote by the Henry County Board of Commissioners.

McDonough City Administrator, Billy Beckett, said the county became eligible to receive the funds after the 2010 U.S. Census. The census revealed Henry County has more than 200,000 residents, a benchmark number for a federal classification as an Urban County by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
